The Argentina Coach Diego Maradona might feel sorry for Lionel Messi. Messi didn’t play in his national team’s friendly match against Russia due to an injury problem.

In an interview with TyC Sports, this is what Diego Maradona said on Lionel Messi concerning the Albicestes’ friendly with Guus Hiddink’s Russia, and their next 2010 World Cup Qualifying game against Brazil:

“I told Lionel Messi we need him more than ever, to get well, that there is a place in the team for him

“The team responded and the guys played like I asked and they showed we are alive. We are fine and we are doing a silent work.”

Happy about his team’s performance on the day, Maradona added that from 85 to 88 percent of his players who faced Russia will fight Brazil’s forces.
