Certainly, FC Barcelona will be eyeing their second trophy, out of 6 possible ones this season.
The La Liga and Copa del Rey winners defeated Atletico Bilbao on Sunday to hold the Spanish Super Cup in front of their home fans, thus, this should highly boost their moral ahead of their clash against the Ukrainian giants this Friday.
Shaktar Donetsk were sent to the UEFA Europa League after a disappointing run in the Champions League group stages; however, they bounced back to impose their authority over the other participating clubs of the competition.
Having already defeated the Spanish champions once at the Camp Nou in last years’ second leg encounter against Guardiola’s boys in the last moments of the group stages, the Ukrainians can hope to be as lucky as they were when they caused the “Blaugrana upset“.
Certainly, Pep’s army will give their best so as to prevent history from repeating itself. Nevertheless, with the resutls of the UEFA Club Players Awards taking place just a day before the UEFA Super Cup match, one can expect that the results announced at the ceromny will have an impact on some of the Catalans, espectially on Lionel Messi.
