Argentina Number 10 Jersey

Many years ago, Argentina’s national squad was considered as the fiercest team in the world as it possessed the one that was regarded as the best player on the planet: Diego Maradona – the number 10 ace.

It was trough him that the Argentines were able to grab the World Cup trophy with huge controversy, back in 1986. Then, after his retirement, many people thought that there would never ever be such a potent number 10 player in soccer’s history.

However, things became different after the introduction of his mentee Lionel Messi, in the national team. The young star grew up to become a real playmaker for both his club, and his country.

After continuously showing an immeasurable amount of skills, determination and passion for his national team, he was rewarded with the number 10 jersey last week, and indeed, his first match with it seemed to be the perfect one.

Saturday was the first time Messi played as a number 10 for his country, and he certainly made history as he scored the opener and created the opportunity for the second goal in Argentina’s 4-0 win over Venezuela in the South American qualifying series.

Eventually, Messi could be seen as Maradona’s perfect successor. Nonetheless, the wonder kid could also be on his way to being the world’s best number 10 player ever both in club football, and national football.
