The First Quintrick for Lionel Messi
Barcelona grabbed a 7-1 home victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg match of Champions League round of 16.
Lionel Messi became the star that night, as he amazingly scored a quintrick on the match. The goals, which he created in less then 60 minutes, has made him as the first player to score 5 goals in Champions League competition. Now Messi race away as the top scorer in Champions League with 12 goals, leaving his rival Cristiano Ronaldo who collects 4 goals.
Messi’s closest record was in season 2009/10, where he scored a quattrick in Champions League second leg match against Arsenal. The 5 goals against Leverkusen were his first time ever to booked 5 goals in one match. And now he managed to equalize Barcelona’s legend Laszlo Kubala, who also scored 5 goals in the team’s 6-1 victory over Celta Vigo back in season 1951/52.
After the match, Messi decided to keep the ball and the jersey as a souvenir.
