Tenerife 0-5 Barcelona: Lionel Messi Scores A Hat-Trick
The Argentine winger Lionel Messi was at his full best on Sunday evening for Barcelona, getting 3 goals for the leaders of La Liga, who crushed Tenerife 5-0 away from home.
Lionel Messi got the opener for Barca ten minutes from the break with an easy strike from close range, following a superb control from his team mate Bojan.
A bad gesture from Tenerife’s Daniel Kome then awarded Barcelona a free kick wide on the right hand side of the field, in the dying minutes of the first half. The free-kick was impressively taken by Messi, who drove the ball into the danger zone, only for his captain Puyol to head the ball home to double the Catalans’ lead.
A few moments later, unstoppable efforts from Iniesta placed Bojan through, and unselfishly, the young Spaniard squared the ball to Lionel Messi, who couldn’t miss with no keeper in front of him. Subsequently, Barcelona entered the second half with a 3-0 lead.
The second period wasn’t less entertaining, as Barcelona increased the tally. A brilliant move from Bojan once again gave Messi the chance to make his fans proud, but surprisingly, despite being positioned about 20 yards out, the reigning FIFA World Player of the Year preferred to raise the ball high past the Tenerife keeper, who could only watch the ball enter the top right corner of his net.
Lionel Messi had finally earned a wonderful hat-trick following an outstanding third goal for Barcelona on the night.
Coach Pep Guardiola then introduced Pedro into the game, and thanks to the manager’s decision, Barca got their fifth goal, as the youngster registered his name on the scoring sheet before the end of proceedings.
In the end, Barcelona won 5-0 over a powerless Tenerife side, and consequently, the European champions now find theirselves back at the top of La Liga table, ahead of bitter rivals Real Madrid who also won 2-0 over Real Mallorca at the weekend.

What a nice third goal by Messi! Now he’s taking over the lead in La Liga topscorer table from Villa and Ibra.
