Real Valladolid 0-3 Barcelona: Lionel Messi Gets Third Goal
FC Barcelona looked confident going into this game, as they were aiming for a win that would complete a 19-match unbeaten record in the first half of La Liga.
Barcelona went in battle against Valladolid with the likes of Dani Alves, Xavi Hernandez, Iniesta, and Lionel Messi to increase the weight of pressure on the hosts, and this decision from Pep Guardiola seemed to be well-thought, considering the outcome of the game for his side.
Barcelona first took the lead around the 20th minute when Xavi Hernandez made a superb strike from a Dani Alves cross to send the ball at the back of the net.
Barely two minutes after, Alves himself partnered excellently with Lionel Messi, before shooting from an incalculable distance to fool the Valldolid keeper. 2-0 was the score line at half time.
In the second half, Barcelona kept their defense strong to prevent the home side from pulling a goal back, but as the game was ending, the Catalans needed a third goal to finish their night in style.
Indeed, they could only do so thanks to the help of their superstar Lionel Messi, who got his first goal of the night, and tripled Barcelona’s lead.
In the end, 3-0 the game ended, and Barcelona are now the only Catalan side to have ever remained undefeated after match-day 19 in La Liga.
