In his last Champions League match and in the El Clasico, Lionel Messi’s performance was tremendous. But the FIFA Player of the Year’s qualities somehow sound surprising, knowing that Messi’s height is just of 169 centimeters.

Lionel Messi was affected by growth hormone defficiency in his youth, leading to his departure from Argentina to Spain, where he was cured by Barcelona’s doctors. The Argentine was somewhat lucky to have met the opportunity of freeing himself from such a sickness; as lack of attention to his problem could have stopped his height to 140 centimetres.

Since then, Lionel Messi’s entry in the Barcelona football club, the playmaker has been appearing as one of the most impressive players of all time in the world of football.

In El Clasico yesterday, the FIFA Player of the Year 2009 and FIFA Player of the Year 2008 met together, and they both exchanged a few words after shaking of hands before and after the game. Gonzalo Higuain, his partner in the Argentina national team gave him a hug, while he gave a wink to Cristiano Ronaldo.
