Lionel Messi: Win Over Real Madrid Was Big Step Toward La Liga Title

Barcelona Star Lionel Messi has revealed that the victory of Barcelona in El Clasico against Real Madrid which took place on April 10 at the Bernabeu Stadium had a great influence in their race for the Spanish La Liga title.

While speaking to La Sexta immediately after the 2-0 victory, this is what Lionel Messi said:

“Will this win Barcelona the league? There are still many games left to go. We have some tough away encounters, but yes, we took a big and important step tonight.

“It was a close game because both teams respect each other a lot, and we both know each other well so there’s certainly a lot of respect. But when we had chances we took them, and that is the reason why we won.”

Barcelona won 3-0 against Deportivo La Coruna at home on Wednesday night, while Real Madrid won 2-1 against Almeria on Thursday evening.
