The FC Barcelona ace Lionel Messi is expected to renew his contract with the Catalans as soon as the teams returns from the United States.
Lionel Messi is currently preparing to play against teams from North America, including Beckam’s Los Angeles Galaxy. However, it is said that once the pre-season tour is over, Messi will renew his contract, which normally expires in 2014.
FC Barcelona have affirmed that their proposal to their star is to let the public know that Lionel Messi will remain the club’s number one player, even after the entry of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the team.
Lionel Messi is also on the verge of receiving a huge salary boost. Without doubt, this decision from the Barcelona managing board was taking in other for Messi to keep on feeling as the team’s most paid, and most valuable player.
“The price of having the world’s best player in your ranks is to upgrade his contract every year. It is a significant price, but it is worth it,†said Txiki Begiristain – FC Barcelona’s technical director.
