Lionel Messi – the next UEFA Club Forward of the Year?

Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi
Samuel Eto’o, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi… These were the three names which were mentioned during the selection of the nominees for this year’s UEFA Club Forward of the Year Award.

Barcelona’s influencial number 10 player can therefore be proud of the fact that at his age, he is already competing against some of the world’s most respected players. However, Messi has revealed time and time again that he is not a player who starts without ending.

Certainlnly, this will be the main reason why Messi will hope to end up with the award in his hands, instead of staying as a simple nominee.

Several times in his career, the Argentine was chosen as a strong contender to win great awards, but on many occasions, he was beaten by other players which were considered to be better, following the public’s opinion.

This time, the story could be different though, as the level of estimation football fans are curently having for him is much greater than the one they had several months ago.

Indeed, many stastictics show that the player who deserves to receive a flood of awards should be none other than Barcelona’s ace Lionel Messi.

Nothing has veen confirmed yet, and in fact, in other for Leo be satisfied, it will be up to managers to vote for him when the UEFA Awards ceremony takes place in Monaco on August 27, 2009.
