A good decision for Lionel Messi
Of course, the Champions League final isn’t far from now at all; on the contrary, it’s only very few days away. Thus, Pep Guardiola couldn’t afford to risk his players’ health for Wednesday’s clash against defending champions Manchester United, in Rome.
Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi didn’t look upset by his coach’s decision; conversely, he seemed to understand perfectly. A few days ago, Messi declared that this Champions League final was the most important thing for him so far, and having taken part in his club’s previous triumphs this season, it would be fair enough for him to give his all on May 27.
Therefore, he knew that Saturday’s game against Osasuna wouldn’t have benefited him in any way, as it would have rather deteriorated his health, form, and surely his confidence ahead of his next Champions League match against the Red Devils.
Fans can then expect their star to shine on Wednesday, nevertheless, the fact that Messi’s display will overpower Manchester United’s defense still remains a doubt. In the end, we can only wait and see, while we remain hopeful upon the positivity of his game in Rome.
