Lionel Messi Hat-trick Brings Victory for Barcelona

Barcelona’s striker Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick and determine the 4-0 victory for his team against Sevilla in the second leg of Spanish Super Cup, last Saturday (21 August 2010). On the first leg, they defeated Sevilla with 1- 3.

Although El Barca looks superior, they still couldn’t get to score easily. During the first ten minutes, Sevilla became a threat for Barcelona.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 13th minute, when Abdoulay Konko made a wrong moves to anticipate Pedro’s feedback that turned into a suicide goal.

Barcelona quickly increase their pressure with their luck. After several unsuccessful attempts, they managed to double the advantage through Lionel Messi in the 25th minute. Messi dribbled the ball from Xavi into the penalty box, and took the shot. 2-0 for Barcelona.

Sevilla lost their tempo after the opponent’s second goal in less than 15 minutes, and change their strategy. The chose to reduce the attack, but failed on defense, when Messi scored the third score for his team in 43rd minute.Sevilla failed to escape the third goal scored Barcelona’s Lionel Messi on 43 minutes.

Entering the second half, Barcelona continued their pressure and kept attacking the opponents. As a results, they were able to create a number of chances, which unfortunately didn’t turn into goals.

Again, Messi  finally ended the deadlock with his third score for the match in 89th minute. With the time running out for Sevilla, Barcelona refused to lowering their defense, and continued to look for foals. However, when the match ended, they still close the game with 4-0 victory.
