Lionel Messi Desperate Statement on El Pichichi Lost
After losing el pichichi award to his rival Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi took the time to defend himself with a sarcastic statement. Hearing it, we all know it was an indirect message to Ronaldo. A hopeless one, from an unsportive player that tried to save his face from humiliation.
We know that he had a chance to equalize , or maybe surpass Ronaldo’s goal record. But after Barca ensure their winning title in La liga, Pep prefers to safe him for the real battle, for the Champions League final against Manchester United.
Of course for his personal ego as a footballer, being defeated for not able to compete is just another scratch on a face. Especially when the one who beat him, was his eternal rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Here’s the statement :
“Goals only important if you win the game,” Messi told The Sunday Mirror.
“If I did not score a goal and Barcelona won the Champions League, it’s not important whether I scored or not.”
“My interest is the success of the team, not individual glory.”
“And I was not motivated by a desire to score more goals than other players in the Champions League.”
Is he really saying all of this thing ? No matter how he tried to say that, it only sounded like a desperate jealous kid, who didn’t get what he wants. He definitely wants the pichichi title, if not, why he always taking the penalty kick on Barcelona’s games ?? And why did Xavi said that he will help Messi to win pichichi ?
My advice for him, just be a sportive player, and have a big heart. Accept the lost, or don’t make any comments. Because last season, when Ronaldo lost to Messi in el pichichi, I don’t remember him saying all of those silly defending statements. But I guess that’s what Barcelona players good at. Making excuse after the defeat. Just like when they lost to Real Madrid in Copa del Rey, on the next day, Xavi made a statement that Copa del Rey was not their goal. Their goal was a bigger one, which is Champions League winner. Yeah, right…..why would Pep use all the first team to play Copa final then ??

Guess what Messi – your a forward! It’s your job to make goals, that why they pay you! I can’t stand when players, mainly forwards, are all like “Well as long as the team wins” attitude. In football player’s shouldn’t be complacent, every title and award (no matter how “small”), they should strive to win. Your right Derby, Messi did come off as a petulant child and only increases my distaste for the man. Go Cristiano! A true player and a future legend of the game!
