The Barcelona left back Dani Alves has declared that comparing Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo with Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi is ridiculous.

According to the Confederations Cup winner Dani Alves, Ronaldo is different from Messi, and so placing them against each other was immatured.

“Whoever tries to make the comparison is to be ridiculed,” said Alves in a chat with El Mundo Deportivo.

“Cristiano (Ronaldo) is a great player but nobody can compare to his (Lionel Messi’s) level, his motivation.

Alves continued turning his attention to the shape of Barcelona this season, and he stated that the Catalans were better this season, in spite of their incapability to obtain results as huge as last season.

“Maybe not as bright as last season but we are better.

“This year we have much less defects. Perhaps we haven’t won 20 games 3-0 or 4-0 but we are much better than last season.

“We must also consider that teams are more prepared this year to be measured against us.
