Lionel Messi: “We deserve to win the Champions League.”

The Argentina number 10 talisman Lionel Messi declared not long ago that the Champions League trophy deserved to be in Barcelona’s hands.

Barcelona controversially beat Chelsea in the Champions League’s semifinals, and in fact, their qualification into the final of the competition wasn’t as easy as many predicted. Andres Iniesta’s late goal around the 93rd minute secured the Catalans a place in Roma for May 27; even though it was the Ovrebo’s poor decision which seemed to have created such a glorious moment the Spanish semifinalists.

In any case, as Messi spoke to Champions magazine, he ignored his side’s bad parts and rather, he expressed how much being in the final of the Champions League made him feel good.

“My heart nearly exploded when I saw Iniesta’s shot go in,” he said. ”Winning the Champions League interests me more than anything.”

”I’m dreaming of Barcelona becoming the Champions League winners. And, at least until 27 May, no-one can take that dream away from me.”

The Barcelona key player however stated that, making his dream come true will not be an easy task, as their opponents Manchester United possess the right weapons to fight back.

”They’re a great team, Manchester,” he confessed.

”If you go through the whole squad, you’d be hard pushed to know which player to choose if you had to pick just one.”

”But clearly you have to start with Cristiano, a great forward who can gambetea with speed and ease.

”And he has a great medium-range shot. We’re conscious that in Rome we can’t give him time to think or get a shot in from distance. He’s a great footballer.”

Surely, no matter how great Cristiano Ronaldo intends to be on May 27, Lionel Messi will hope that the Portuguese winger’s form will be as low as in his first meeting against Barcelona, back in April 2008.
