After seeing the Argentine’s superficial performance at the weekend against Atletico Madrid, the Barcelona President Joan Laporta has publicized that Lionel Messi is an exceptional player, and that his positive mentality was the key for the team to succeed this season.

“Messi is the best in the world, committed to the club,” declared Laporta while speaking to AS.

“He is a great player and has really emerged as a leader. He is scoring goals and is happy. As Pep has said many times, if I see a happy ‘Leo’ then it shows that things are going well.

“I think this [relentlessness] is the key to success. At no point can we relax or allow ourselves to be taken by the general atmosphere, because we are experiencing one of the best moments in Barcelona’s history.”
