Joan Laporta: Leo should be the highest-paid player at Barcelona

In an interview with Catalan radio, the president of the club Joan Laporta confirmed his approval towards the deal.

“Leo should be the highest-paid player in the squad – he deserves it. He’s the best player in the world and one of the best in football history.

“Messi has already agreed to a new contract. He’s content and that’s why he’s playing the way he is.”

Lionel Messi is expected to win the Fifa Player of the Year award and the Golden Ball award later this year.
