FC Barcelona V Real Madrid – Higuain Wants Lionel Messi To Play El Clasico
14 views 25 November 2009
FC Barcelona will host league leaders Real Madrid at the Camp Nou this weekend, and the Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has revealed that he is hoping to face his fellow Argentinian forward Lionel Messi in the clash – popularly known as El Clasico.
Lionel Messi collected an injury in his last league game against Athletic Bilbao, and was then not able to play against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
While speaking to AS, Higuain expressed the importance of the EL Clasico showdown to him, and declared that having Messi featuring for Barcelona would be great.
“I want the best players play on my team fit, what happens on with Barca is up to them. The important thing for us is to go with all our enthusiasm at Camp Nou. Getting a win there would be a blow to them in the table.
“It would be very important because we’d go four points clear of them in the league. Now we must focus on the Champions League [against Zurich tonight], and then we will think about the game against Barcelona.
“These games are most beautiful when the best players are on pitch. It would be nice if he [Lionel Messi] can be on the field.”
