FC Barcelona crashes Al Ahly 4-1 in the Wembley Cup – Pictures and Video Highlights
Once again, Pep Guardiola’s men lifted up to expectations as FC Barcelona beat the Egyptians Al Ahly 4-1 in the Wembley Cup.
FC Barcelona’s four goals came from Bojan, Rueda, Jeffren and Pedro; and certainly, although the big guys didn’t start, it wasn’t surprising to see the Catalans destroy the Egyptian giants.
Quickly at the start of the game, Barcelona proved to be as fierce as ever, getting five corners in the first five minutes. Their lead was established in the 15th minute after Bojan magnificently sent the ball into the low corner of the net, but at the half hour mark, Al Ahly responded with a teasing equalizer, rounding up the Barca keeper.
10 minutes later, Rueda restored his side’s lead with a brilliant shot from 25 yards – and the score was extended to 3-1 when Jeffren punished the Egyptians’ poor defence only 10 minutes in the second half.
The crowd began to go bananas when the Argentine star Lionel Messi made his entry in the game, moments in the second half. His creative and amazing foot works amazed the crowd, and even if he didn’t manage to score a goal, at least he raised the excitement in the stadium.
Pedro then perfectly ended the Catalans’ game with a low shot at the bottom corner of the net in the 66th minute – Al Ahly were crushed by a devastating Barcelona side.
