It was a second half goal from substitute striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic on 55 minutes that separated FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in Sunday’s El Clasico at the Camp Nou, as Barca went on to win the game 1-0.
French forward Thierry Henry first played as the home side’s striker, considering the fact that the Blaugrana were looking to trouble the Real Madrid defense quickly in the game.
Unfortunately, Henry’s poor performance clearly showed that he wasn’t at his full best, and having noticed that, Guardiola didn’t hesitate to take him off the field.
Yes indeed, it was nothing more than a good sensation from Pep Guardiola, which enabled the Barcelona coach to make such an important decision.
Consequently, it was the phenomenal striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who made his entry in the clash; coming in for Thierry Henry to make his first appearance for Barcelona since quite a number of days now (Ibra obtained an injury that kept him out from action for several days).
It didn’t take too long for Barcelona’s number 9 to prove himself. A decent cross from Dani Alves towards the danger zone allowed Ibrahimovic lash the ball into the back of the net after a well-calculated run, only to score Barcelona’s first and only goal of the night.
Real Madrid knew that it would take a lot of courage, energy and determination from them to come back with an equalizer. In the long run, despite giving their all to survive, Los Blancos were unable to make the score line 1-1.
Barcelona then went on to get El Clásico’s 3 points; in a clash were the excitement reached one of its highest level.
As for the goal scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he can now estimate himself as one of the best strikers in football history, subsequent to the great achievement he made; showing millions of viewers his invaluable capabilities on the field of play.
