FC Barcelona 1-0 Real Madrid: El Clasico – Barcelona Get Back On Top Of La Liga Table

Barcelona's players including Lionel Messi celebrating after scoring in a La Liga match to stay on top of the Spanish League table. At last, Barcelona now found themselves back at the top of the Spanish La Liga table, after beating rivals Real Madrid 1-0 at the Camp Nou in Sunday’s crunching El Clasico.

Things might not have gone so well for the Catalans in the game (having played with only 10 men after Sergio Busquet was sent off on the hour mark), but at least, they were able to get the result which was the most important thing of all in the end.

Barcelona’s win over Real Madrid now puts them on top with 30 points – either 2 points ahead of Los Blancos, while Sevilla and Valencia (who both failed to get victories at the weekend to temporarily surpass Barca) sit behind with 26 and 25 points respectively.

FC Barcelona still have to face dangerous side Villarreal, as well as Sevilla; but having been able to remain unbeaten in La Liga so far, there are a few doubts that the league leaders will stumble against these bitter challengers.

Barcelona will face Deportivo La Coruna away from home in their next league match this Saturday, hoping to live up to expectations in other to stay on top of the league table. Possibly, they will want to extend their lead at the top if ever Real Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia once again fail to succeed in their respective matches this weekend.
