Lionel Messi Picture, BarcelonaLionel Messi will be playing away from home against Espanyol this weekend, and it will be his opportunity to get his first goal against the Periquitos in La Liga this season.

Messi has scored 27 goals in La Liga so far, but he did not appear in the match at the Camp Nou against Espanyol when Barcelona faced their city rivals in November 2009. Messi is presently hoping to score over 30 goals for Barcelona in La Liga before the end of the competition, and he could do so by getting his name on the scoring sheet this weekend.

Messi’s Barcelona are now at the top of the league with 83 points, while Real Madrid have 80 points.
