Eric Abidal advises Frank Ribery to sign for FC Barcelona and play with Lionel Messi

Frank Ribery might be tempted by Spanish giants Real Madrid, but FC Barcelona’s quest of signing the French international Ribery, is still not over.

The France and FC Barcelona defender Eric Abidal recently confessed that he tried to convince his fellow-international to sign for the Catalans, but Frank Ribery still seems to see his future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
In an interview with El Mundo Deportivo, Abidal said:

“I think that he likes both teams because the football style suits him and he would have friends in either club,”

“It’s not so much that he prefers to go to Madrid, but his wife likes Madrid more than Barcelona.

“I have sent pictures to him via my mobile phone of all the pretty houses here but it is difficult to convince him. Besides, he has the same agent who used to represent Zinedine Zidane, and in addition, ‘Zizou’ is in Madrid and for all the French players, he is the reference.”

Abidal went on to add:

“I told him that it would be better if he signed for FC Barcelona, a club which is perfect for him because we will come back and win another treble; and he can play alongside Leo Messi, the next Ballon d’Or winner.

“Plus Nicolas Anelka, who spent one season at Madrid, had already warned him that Real are not an easy club to play for.

“In any case, Bayern seem inflexible.”

However, as Abidal is hoping that his conpatriot will join him at FC Barcelona to play alongside Lionel Messi, he also need to think about his own future at the club. Nevertheless, when Abidal was asked about Barcelona’s new signing Maxwell, he didn’t seem to concern.

“I am not concerned about Maxwell’s arrival.”

“If anything, he will make the team better and that is fine by me. The more competition there is, the higher the level will become within the team.”
