Barcelona 5-2 Atletico Madrid: La Liga Match Full Goals Details

Indeed, things started quite well for the hosts, as Thierry Henry fired a long-range shot at the target only 55 seconds in the game, but he was denied by the cross-bar.
About a minute later, Sergio Busquet’s wonderful ball found Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the danger area, and the Swedish international made no mistake, as his scuffing strike rolled across the Madrid goal-line.
The Castellans’ goalie Roberto then had to come off his line to save his side from conceding another goal after 13 minutes, when Messi almost tapped the ball from a Henry cross.
16 minutes had passed and Barcelona were hungry for more. The playmaker Lionel Messi brillantly chested down Xavi’s decent ball before tricking a helpless Roberto to score the second.
6 minutes later, Atletico Madrid had the chance to pull one back trough a sloppy Catalan defence, but Maxi Rodriguez failed to punish his opponents’ carelessness.
After seeing their rivals wasting a series of chances, the Brazilian full back Dani Alves was given the chance to increase his side’s tally trough a free kick. Unsurprisingly, Atletico’s keeper wasn’t able to stop Alves’ lashing shot which went in off the post for the third goal.
Barcelona were then in cruise control… A nice flick from Ibrahimovic saw Messi doing some extraordinary foot words so as to square the ball into the 6 yards box for Keita to get on the scoring sheet with his side’s fourth goal of the night.
Late in the first half, Ibra was fouled inside the penalty area; however the referee refused to award the home side a penalty. The Colchoneros then broke away, and thanks to a dreadful header from Barcelona’s midfield, Sergio Aguero eventually looped the ball past Victor Valdes for the visitors’ consolation.
With 5 minutes to go, Atletico Madrid were hoping to reduce the goal margin, and fortunately for them, their Uruguayan forward Diego Forlan gave them their second goal trough a superb bullet from 20 yards.
The match was not over yet…
In the dying seconds of injury time, a nice combination from Andres Iniesta and Dani Alves provided Messi with a cool chance. Of course, being aware of his contender Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal scoring abilities this season, Messi knew he couldn’t miss; and he brilliantly drove the ball into the net to clinch his second goal of the day, and seal a deserved win for Barcelona.
