Barcelona 4-0 Stuttgart: Lionel Messi Scores Two Wonder Goals In Champions League

Lionel Messi PictureLionel Messi was unstoppable yesterday evening at the Camp Nou as Barcelona put four goals past the Germans Stuttgart in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Lionel Messi started the game as usual, and as the hat-trick maker in Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Valencia at the weekend, Messi was set to lead his fans to an eruption again.

Eventually, it did not take Messi too long to show his class in the match against Stuttgart, and after only 13 minutes, the Germans were down by a goal to nil.

A brilliant run from Lionel Messi from the right-hand side to the middle of the field was then finished magnificently by a 25-yard shot from the Argentine, which flew at the top corner of the net.

It was a wonder goal from the FIFA Player of the Year, and even according to replays, Messi was found in a very difficult shooting position; but that did not prevent him from making what many thought was the “impossible”.

Lionel Messi then created the second goal of his side 11 minutes later when he lofted the ball to Henry who passed it to Pedro to tap it in and increase Barcelona’s lead to 2-0.

Messi got his second goal of the night in the second half after he struck again from over 20-yards to beat Lehmann at his post.

A superb attack from Barca drove the ball toward Dani Alves, who made a back-heel to give the possession to Messi, and the No. 10 winger made no mistake.

Pressured by many defenders, Messi turned impressively before striking the ball hard and low for Barcelona’s third goal of the night.

100% precision was used by the world’s most talented player, and Lehmann just couldn’t get his hands on the ball.

It almost became 4-0 minutes later when a cross from Alves found Lionel Messi’s head, but his header was badly parried away by the Stuttgart goalkeeper, and substitute Zlatan Ibrahimovic couldn’t score on the rebound.

Messi again made some captivating individual efforts, but in the end, his little strike bounced over Lehmann and went wide.

Bojan Krkić was finally brought on late into the encounter, and immediately after he tasted the game, his name was registered on the scoring sheet as Barcelona obtained their fourth goal.

A teasing ball from the midfield reached the young Spaniard who just had to beat Lehmann off his line. He accomplished his mission faultlessly, and hence, finished his night in style.

Barcelona are now in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and Lionel Messi’s dream of conquering Europe for another consecutive season continues.
